PENSIONERS TEA – 29th March 2011
The pensioners tea is held every month. In March we had about 20 people attending.
Pick and Pay – Dips is the PRO pictured in red, organises the catering and supplied oodles of lovely goodies to eat from sandwiches, tasty stacks to the huge Pick and Pay cake. Heathway Square supports it by organising a speaker of interest each month. Dr Travis, Chiropractor, who has his practice is in the centre, gave a talk on health and well- being. They learned a lot from the talk and asked many questions! It is appreciated very much by the pensioners and say that they are looking forward to the next one. |

The Shavathon was supported by over 250 people! The target for Heathway was R10,000 and the total collected was R12,850. It was well supported and a lot of fun was had with lots of good music, kindly supplied by Gona from Primi Junxtion, who gave us lots of laughs at the microphone and helped us find lots of good hearted victims ! One courageous gentleman (pictured) had long hair and had his head shaved! – I asked him if there was a special reason for doing this, and he said that his mother had had a mastectomy 3 weeks prior to the Shavathon. There were many other plucky spirited people who supported this wonderful cause, who had heads shaved or hair painted by our very artistic volunteers who gave their time very generously. A lot of our tenants also supported the cause-have a look for their photos in the gallery.
A BIG THANK YOU TO EVERYBODY WHO TOOK PART TO MAKE A TRULY FANTASTIC MORNING TO RAISE THESE MUCH NEEDED AND TREASURED FUNDS IN SUPPORT OF THE CANCER SURVIVORS
"Shavathon is a very public demonstration of South Africa's solidarity with cancer survivors. By shaving or colour-spraying for the event, we show support and celebrate life with cancer survivors and we remember our loved ones who have lost their lives to cancer" adds Janse van Rensburg.
We will definitely be doing this again next year – so put it in your calendar and come and join us!

The launch escalated when Barney in conjunction with Toys R Us made a special appearance on Saturday and Sunday. Despite the gloomy weather on Saturday and after major logistical changes, Barney appeared on stage in side the centre and entertained close to 2000 children to likes of “If your happy and you know it . . .”, make no mistake – the parents were more excited than the kids! On Sunday, again hundreds of little shoppers and their parents made there way to Heathway Square, as the sun was shining, Barney performed he’s ever famous “I love you, you love me . . .” on stage outside the parking area at Mike’s Kitchen and Newscafe!
To ad to the excitement, Barbie and Spiderman entertained children within the brand new Toys R Us shop, which also now boasts a party venue! (See in store for more details). Further more, all shoppers could enjoy a delectable chocolate fountain and enjoyed being teased by the mimes and clowns!
It was a weekend never to be forgotten! Especially now that Heathway Square has been revamped for a pure shopping indulgence and not to forget the brand new parking deck with easy access of Beyers Naude, shopping is now made super easy and convenient!

July School Holiday Programme

The July school holidays are peeping around the corner and we have a great entertainment line up for our kids!
We would like to include as much tenant participation as possible and would love your support in the workshops or in sponsorship of prizes, In return for your participation you will be invited to advertise your store around the play area in the Centre Court, your stores logo will also be included on the A5 Flyers that are being printed and distributed to the surrounding schools.
We have set aside an area for reading, so if you can assist please let me know it would be great!
The play area will run daily from 27 June to 5 July 10am to 3pm. We will be focusing on attracting new customers into the Centre this weekend to purchase there Fathers Day gifts at our shops.
To create awareness of the centre this Father’s day, we will be handing out R5000.00 worth of Heathway Gift Vouchers at main intersections around the centre on Friday. Ladies will randomly hand out 100 x R50.00 Centre gift vouchers attached to an A5 flyer promoting that “Heathway Square will spoil your Father this Fathers Day!”. (The flyer will list a directory of all the tenants in the centre). The vouchers are clearly marked “valid 20 and 21 June 2009 only” this will allow us to monitor the come back of the vouchers and the success of the promotion.
Please note: The vouchers are NOT redeemable for cash and can be spent at any shop in the centre. Vouchers may only be spent in the centre on Sat 20 and Sun 21 June. Kindly write the full amount of the purchase on the gift voucher when accepting it. |
