HSPCA RANDBURG HERO OF THE MONTH FEBRUARY 2012

OSCAR THE FRIENDLY LITTLE DOG
A concerned member of the public phoned us earlier this year because of suspected animal neglect. When an SPCA Randburg Inspector went to investigate, she found that somebody had given three dogs to a new owner who was in no position to care for them properly.
A four-year-old cross Dachshund, Oscar, was one of the dogs the Inspector found at the premises. He was kept in a courtyard, and was fed some rice when the new owner could afford it. The Inspector managed to persuade the owner to let her take the animals to SPCA Randburg, where they would be able to find suitable new homes with owners who would be able to afford to feed a pet.
Oscar was very thin, but with his sweet, friendly nature and wagging tail he was soon adopted by a loving new family. He has put on weight, has a garden to play in, and is looking much healthier now!
Please don't give your pets away. If you are unable to keep them, rather bring them to your nearest SPCA where they have a better chance of being adopted into the right family. A pre-home check is carried out by SPCA Inspectors before an animal is released, to ensure that the environment is suitable.
